The Role of a Motor Vehicle Inspector

Certified New York State motor vehicle inspectors examine cars, trucks, and motorcycles at licensed inspection stations throughout the state. They are responsible for ensuring that these vehicles meet all the safety and operational requirements set by the NYS DMV. Further, an inspector must thoroughly examine a vehicle to make sure that parts like its brakes, lights, seat belts, and turn signals are working properly. This is critical to ensuring that all cars on NYS highways are safe for drivers and passengers.
