Job Description
The Shop Supervisor is a key member of NYADI’s academic team, responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of the vehicle fleet, managing tools and equipment, supporting faculty training, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. This role is integral to fostering a professional and efficient learning environment that aligns with industry standards related to Automotive, Diesel and Collision.
Responsibilities
1. Vehicle Fleet Maintenance:
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and readiness of all vehicles in the NYADI fleet for the automotive, diesel and collision shop areas.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Coordinate with external vendors for repairs and services as needed.
2. Tool and Equipment Management:
- Maintain an accurate inventory of tools and equipment.
- Ensure all tools are in proper working condition and meet industry specifications.
- Monitor usage, conduct periodic audits, and implement a system for check-out/check- in.
3. Faculty Training and Industry Engagement:
- Collaborate with technical faculty to identify training needs related to new tools, technologies, and industry innovations.
- Conduct workshops or training sessions to keep faculty updated on current practices.
- Facilitate communication with industry professionals to align educational offerings with evolving trends.
4. Accreditation Support:
- Assist the Dean of Academic Affairs with accreditation processes and documentation.
- Ensure the shop meets all accreditation standards and requirements.
- Collect, organize, and maintain records and reports required for accreditation reviews.
5. Procurement and Purchase Orders:
- Process and place purchase orders for tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Work within budgetary guidelines to manage procurement efficiently.
- Maintain records of purchases and liaise with vendors to ensure timely delivery.
6. Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce safety protocols and procedures within the shop.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
7. Additional Duties:
- Provide ongoing support to the Dean of Academic Affairs as needed.
- Assist with special projects and events related to academic programming.
- Other duties as assigned to support the mission and vision of NYADI.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Automotive Technology, Engineering, or a related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in automotive technology or shop management.
- Familiarity with vehicle maintenance, tool inventory systems, and procurement processes.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in industry-related software and tools.
- Knowledge of accreditation processes is a plus.
Work Environment:
This position operates in an automotive shop environment, which may involve exposure to machinery, tools, and chemicals. Safety gear and adherence to protocols are required at all times.
Work Schedule –
Monday through Thursday – 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Position Title:
Admissions Representative. (Full Time)
Position Responsibilities:
- 60% Establish contact via phone with leads provided. Schedule on-campus interviews with prospective students.
- 30% Interview and tour prospective students. Screen prospects to ensure that they meet the entrance requirements of the school.
- 10% Follow-up Enroll prospective students. Collect required documents.
- The successful candidate will adhere to the school policies and procedures, complete various reports and forms, observe ethical sales practices and assist in school promotional events. Our campus is located at 178-18 Liberty Avenue in Jamaica, Queens, and the work schedule includes some evening hours.

Under the supervision of the Dean of Academic Affairs, the Instructor will support and execute the college mission and objectives to maintain the integrity of the academic program.
Instructor duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Class Instruction:
- Prepare and deliver instructional activities that are both interesting and informative to students through high levels of engagement and interaction in the classroom setting.
- Implement designated curriculum and modify if need be to further execute course objectives.
- Establish and communicate clear expectations for all learning activities to students to demonstrate positive outcome analytics and results associated with course surveys.
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
- Use relevant technology to support instruction and complete relevant training to upkeep with technological changes.
- Development and preparation of adequate handout material/NATEF lab task sheets/other resource documents pertaining to the associated course.
- Development of audiovisual/multimedia materials for the topic presentation.
- Instruct and monitor students in the laboratory on the use of tools and equipment to ensure safety and compliance.
- Observe and evaluate student laboratory performance and development.
- Assign and grade class work, homework, tests practical assignments and other writing material.
- Timely provide appropriate feedback on work to students.
- Provide direct supervisor with mid-term academic progress/intervention reports.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students through the action of consistent communication, and usage of office hours.
- Write up student advisories in regards to attendance, academics, uniforms or disciplinary issues for direct supervisor if requested.
- Provide Dean of Academic Affairs with early intervention progress reports and other course updates when inquired to maintain faculty outreach.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and apply differentiated learning for the best possible outcome of student success when collaborating with the primary course instructor.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ attendance, progress and development on all correlated platforms directed by the primary instructor.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by enforcing school rules and procedures to uphold a learning environment.
- Write up student advisories in regard to attendance, academics, uniforms or disciplinary issues with the primary instructor.
Professional Practices:
- Conduct assigned classes at the times scheduled, be prepared for all class sessions and to start and end classes at the scheduled times.
- Demonstrate timeliness and attendance for assigned responsibilities.
- Keep updated with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
- Seek out and attend workshops, seminars, webinars and courses relating to professional growth goals. (fulfillment of the NATEF twenty hours of training per year requirement)
- Assume the responsibility for supervising and maintaining classroom/laboratory tools, school vehicles and equipment.
In case of accident or incident prepare appropriate report, Report any problems with tools, teaching aids, vehicles to supervisor for remediation. - Be available to students during office hours and evening availability.
- Attend and participate in faculty training meetings and other assigned meetings and activities Participate in ongoing ACCSC/ASE professional development.
- Act in a professional manner and assume responsibility for the total school program, its safety and good order.
Office Hours Expectations:
- Prepare and maintain lesson plan submission with collaboration between the primary instructor and oneself.
- Lesson plans must be submitted daily to the appropriate supervisor before class instruction in a timely manner
Daily maintain attendance records as required by the Registrar’s Office. - Observe and evaluate student laboratory performance and development.
- Daily mark required NATEF tasks.
- Prepare your classroom and laboratory for course activities – Immediately inform Supervisor of inoperative vehicles, equipment and/or missing tools.
- In order to keep equipment in good working order, weekly inspection and maintenance of toolboxes, equipment and shop vehicles is required.
- Perform professional development activities.
- Perform other tasks as requested by Dean of Academic Affairs
Qualifications:
- Certificate, Associate degree or higher in Automotive, Diesel and/or Collision Technology.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in automotive, diesel or collision industry.
- Familiarity with vehicle maintenance, tool inventory systems, and procurement processes.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in industry-related software and tools.
- Knowledge of accreditation processes is a plus.
- ASE Minimum Requirements – Automotive (G1, A4, A5, A6) / Diesel – (T4, T6, T8) / Collision (B2, B3, B4, B5)
