The mission of the Career Services Department at New York Automotive and Diesel Institute, The College of Transportation Technology is to provide guidance, preparation and career assistance to both NYADI graduates and current students. The Office of Career Services provides expert advice and valuable services to help currently enrolled students as well as alumnus secure employment in their field of study. We are here to help you in the transition from a student to a career-ready professional.
In the students’ last course in school, the Placement Department will begin assisting students in their search for an auto technician career, providing an automotive technician career development seminar, letters of recommendation, assistance in resume writing and job interview techniques. We will assist you every step of the way – from writing a resume to arranging a job interview with a top company. Assistance is available for internships and part-time employment while students are still in school.The BMW STEP program is available to student who qualify. Although NYADI provides placement assistance, the school cannot guarantee employment after graduation.
Contacts are maintained with local and national companies and interviews will be coordinated for students and graduates. Some of the area’s leading employers, such as Mercedes-Benz, Infiniti, Milea Trucks, Allied Aviation,Taxi & Limo Commission, New York Bus Service, and others, have actively recruited our students.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of automotive technicians is expected to grow by 5 percent from 2020 to 2024, and automotive mechanic job opportunities for qualified jobseekers should be good. If you are interested in being a Diesel Service Technicians and Mechanic. Employment of diesel service technicians and mechanics is projected to grow 12 percent from 2020 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations. Job opportunities should be best for those who have completed postsecondary training in diesel engine repair and finally according to the bureau employment of automotive body repairers is projected to grow 9 percent from 2020 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations. Job opportunities should be very good for jobseekers.
However, employers generally prefer automotive service technicians who have completed a formal training program in a postsecondary institution such as New York ADI. In as little as 11 months, (full time) a student at NYADI can have an entry-level automotive technician career as a Certified Automotive Technician. That is just one of many programs NYADI offers prospective students looking for an auto tech career.
