The Importance of Hands-On Training in Automotive Technician Education
Working as an automotive technician requires specialized knowledge and skills to inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles. Hands-on training is important in automotive technician education to teach aspiring technicians these required skills. At NYADI The College of Transportation Technology in Jamaica, NY, we provide automotive academic programs that combine classroom learning and hands-on training to prepare students for success. Here, we explore the value of hands-on training in automotive technician programs.
Why Is Hands-On Training Important for Automotive Technician Education?
Automotive service technicians inspect, maintain, and repair cars and light trucks. Some of their typical job duties include identifying problems using diagnostic equipment, testing car parts and systems, performing basic care and maintenance, repairing or replacing parts, and more. To learn how to do all these responsibilities, automotive technicians need hands-on practice performing them in their training courses. Hands-on training in a simulated learning environment helps students learn and develop the skills they’ll need to work in the auto industry. It is also important because it enhances problem-solving skills, confidence, and safety, all of which are necessary when transitioning to the workplace.
